I am looking to get a TV for use in a motorhome.

    I am considering this
    Telefunken L22F272K4V LED Fernseher 22 Zoll 55 cm TV DVB-S/S2, DVB-T2, DVB-C, USB, Energieeffizienzklasse A + , 230 Volt / 12 Volt
    https://www.amazon.de/dp/B01J5Z14SC/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_Sj2bBbNRF8SF4

Four reasons I am considering this model:
    1. Small
    2. 12 Volt
    3. Low Power
    4. Terrestrial & Satellite tuners

I have found another source that will ship to Ireland.

I am trying to find out if this will work for Irish terrestrial and also Astra 28.2 HD.

I am asking because I know that I need H.264 AVC, but there is no mention of this anywhere that I can find. I see that they mention that it has H.265 which I believe is HD DVB-T2 in Germany. I can't find the user manual either.

Does DVB-S2 / T2 imply that this TV does indeed have a H.264 codec?

I thought I might ask here before I try my awkward German on amazon or at Telefunken themselves.

I've never heard of a video encoding/decoding standard as used in DVB not being inherently backwards compatible with previous standards (bar a software screw up with some Panasonic TV's a few years back). I can't say for cast iron certain that the DVB-T2 tuner in that telly will decode h.264/AVC video but considering that h.264 is used for video in many other countries that use DVB-T2 terrestrially e.g. UK, it would be a massive oversight if it did. Personally I don't think you'll need to worry about it. Only thing that would probably be missing is MHEG but that's not a major deal breaker in my view.

The satellite tuner should be able to view channels from 28.2 east though you'll have to order the stations yourself (unless you just leave it as it is) as you would with a standard FTA receiver and the EPG will be limited to now & next. It has a DVB-S2 tuner and according to the description is capable of viewing the HD+ suite of channels with a CAM through it's CI+ connection, so will decode h.264 HD video perfectly fine e.g. HD channels from BBC, ITV, Channels 4 & 5 etc.

Looking at the telly, the way the sockets on the rear and the left side of the TV (if looking at the screen) appears to be very similar to Hitachi televisions sold by Argos. So if I was to guess I'd say it's a Vestel manufactured product that has been re-badged under licence. That's not necessarily a bad thing, it will make the on screen display look somewhat familiar.

Just to update ... I decided against that model as I found this bargain on German Amazon:
    https://www.amazon.de/dp/B06XJ4827X/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_1ZVjBbZC23N9T

I installed it yesterday and I am really impressed. Very decent viewing angles, running at 19 Watts. User interface is clean and fairly straight forward. So far I only tried an "Ireland" install and it sorted the Saorview channels correctly with a full EPG. I had to create a favourites channel list for Astra satellite and reorder manually. I will reinstall from scratch at some point as UK and see if it will sort the UK satellite channels a bit better automatically. You can save your channels list to USB, so that is handy. My only issue is that the satellite and terrestrial channels can't be combined into one list :( ... but that is not a big issue for me as I won't be using it that often and it is very common issue anyway.

in short ... 22 inch, 12 volt, Full HD, 2 x HDMI, Terrestrial & Satellite, 3cm thin, 2.6 Kg, 19 Watts consumption, record to USB .... delivered to RoI for €170. Hard to beat that!
