Spotted 2 x Jap imports on the road today, no number plates. looked as if straight off the boat, Japanese writing in marker on the rear windows.

Honda and Toyota Prius. both with body damage.

Does anyone know if its possible to get a jap import out of the docks without paying the vat and vrt?

    Thanks

Wouldn't be that hard although I'm not sure what the security is like these days. I don't think you would have to vrt it before leaving but would have to pay vat.

All in all its a stupid idea really.

Pay vat and import duty and you clear customs.

Ain't no chance a car is leaving the port without vat and duty paid that's for sure. You probably just saw cars being collected, plenty drive them out with a garage plate in the car back to wherever they are based, you'll probably see them on done deal repaired in the next few weeks!

VRT is paid separately to the other charges and not in the clearance process.
