Hyundai 5-year warranty question

    I bought a 172 Hyundai last July, am I right in thinking I need to get it serviced by Hyundai before that date this year to continue my warranty?

    As in, if I don't get it serviced by then, could my warranty be voided?

    Also, from your experience, how much was the service and what actual work do they do. Seems kind of pointless in my situation, only have 4,000km on the clock but I don't want to lose the warranty if I can.

    Yeah, you have to get it serviced "at regular intervals" otherwise it affects the warranty.

    Got my 162 Hyundai serviced last week, it was around €320 (yeah I know :rolleyes:)

    All the usual stuff was done and new wiper blades.

    Purchased a 131 Hyundai in July 2016, was serviced when purchased and had to go back before the year was up to be serviced again. Don't know about it voiding the warranty, but I was told by the garage, that it needed to be brought back for service at 14000 (9900 when purchased).

    It cost me €139 (they were charging €250 but showed them an email with discount I had received prior to service) That was with the garage I purchased with.

    You need to keep it serviced at the manufacturers recommended intervals to keep the warranty valid.

    You don't need to service it with the dealer, but you do need a receipt from a VAT registered garage which specifically notes the parts and type of oil used.

    Servicing at the dealer is no harm with a brand new car though to protect residual values (to an extent) and to build a relationship with the dealer encase you need a favour outside of the norm.

    That said, Hyundai main dealer servicing isn't the cheapest but they do only recommend a service every 24 months or 30k kms so I suppose an expensive service every two years is about the same as a cheap service every year.

    Weather it's a reputable independent or a hyundai dealership genuine hyundai parts must be used and they are expensive in many cases so going the independent route might not be a whole lot cheaper.

    Picked up a new Kia there the other day and bought 5 years servicing for €349. I'd be surprised in Hyundai (sister company) don't have a similar deal you can buy in the first 12 months.
