Charged incorrect duties

I imported a number of projectors from China in 2017. I am being asked to pay duties on these projectors from a debt collector working on behalf on Fedex. However I believe they’re subject to 0% duties. The taric code I have is 8528620000. I have been using the gov.uk tariff calculator. Is there anyone of conforming 100% this is correct code to be using?

The other code I have found online is 8528698090. The first code though was given to me by a revenue official

boards.ie is an Irish site. are you UK or Irish based?

Based in Ireland. I use that site as I can’t find an Irish equivalent and I believe commodity codes and import duty rates are universal across the eu

Thanks I clicked on the link you sent and it came up 14%. However when I use the original code from revenue it’s 0%

Both product descriptions are identical so can’t understand the different percentages between the two codes.

When I saw your question I remembered checking that EU website about a different product that I wanted to import.

They are not identical, the zero one is described as follows:
Projectors
Capable of directly connecting to and designed for use with an automatic data processing machine of heading 8471

My guess is that the 0% is for a dumb screen: may be wrong.

In any event I would tell Fed Ex to go fcuk them selves and deal with the Revenue, UNLESS you signed a document enabling FEDEX to collect the duty.

I had a similar case and I had the debt collectors at my door, they blinked on the steps of the court: I was representing myself

Thanks for the reply, I’m still having trouble deciphering if that type of projector I imported is liable to duites. All the jargon on the tariff website is confusing and I can’t distinguish between one another. I don’t mind paying duties if they’re owed.
