    Hi.
Looking for advice on removing a 5m circle patio set, redoing the sub base, relaying the same patio slabs and repointing.

Is it possible? Is it a big job. Is it expensive.?

I don't think the initial 804 applied was compacted or levelled properly and the slabs are now moving.

    Thanks

You say re-pointed, normally just shaded and whacked?

If pointed then maybe they will chip on removal.
    It can be done

If the slabs are pointed they could get damaged when trying to remove them. You say they are moving which means they will probably come away but it is a risk you have to take. If you damage the slabs then you need to get more slabs to match. You can point the slabs with a ready mixed pointing compound brushed into the joints - much easier than sand & cement pointing. You need to wet the slabs thoroughly & brush in the material. you can rub in the joint to make a neat looking finish.

Got a quote to relay slabs of 1500. Joint it was used to point. Under the slabs is a very dry thin sand cement mix which crumbles when touched .

1500 even including sand cement is a bit much. Ud think 2 lads in a day is bit much. What's under slabs at minute is very dry mix but the fella that quoted to relay is adamant wet mix is needed
