What would be the earliest tractor with a shuttle?

Its for an older (semi older, still actively farming everyday) relative and dont know his exact budget but I fear he may not be willing to spend the money required. His yard is large with lots of room so I think he would go for anything from 80 hp up to 120hp, (prob have to be 4 wheel drive) He is not worried about extra fuel consumption on a bigger tractor as he contracts out all the bigger jobs.

I gave him the ipad and donedeal and he told me that - "that yoke would waste the whole day on you" !!:)

Anyways if I can find the earliest models with shuttles then I can give him an indication of what kind of money he is looking at

Depends on what you define as a shuttle. Most tractors with the early shuttle still require you to use the clutch when changing direction, the ford/NH power stutter works without the clutch at low speeds and load. These still have dry clutches while the newer models have a wet clutch and power shuttle.

If he doesn't want to be clutching when changing direction and it mostly for loader work then a telehandeler or digger would be a better bet and easier to get in budget.

Thanks so much lads - much appreciated.

Will bring those to him and see what the response is!!!!

That "tl 90" I assume is into a way more expensive category.

Not sure if he knew that you still had to clutch with some of the shuttles - I would say he didn't.

Will mention telehandeler / digger (thought they would be super expensive) but I would say he would like just one machine.

If a digger will suit, or industrial tractor/loader they have had clutchless shuttles/torque converters since the 60's.

There's a 2wd jd6200 with power quad and shuttle on done deal.

Would be ideal setup for what you mentioned.

What kinda budget are you looking at?
Diggers and loaders are like tractors you can pay any amount for them
Got a 1987 digger about 15 years ago and it's great for around the yard, saves on the knees. We have a tractor too for doing field work and trailer work but a shuttle wouldn't really be needed for that kind of work. Most of the direction changes are when doing loader work of tipping around the yard.
