Are Job Applicants Private?

    Hi all

I have been in a 3 year contract with my current employer and coming up to mid point. I am enjoying it but at 30 I am considering other options purely because of the mortgage situation. Another position, which is closely related to my current job but in another company, has a permanent more senior role that I would like to do.

I want to apply to this role but am very happy here... I am worried that applying to other company will get back to my current team as my industry is very small.

Anyone been in a similar boat?

There is no law which says they can't discuss amongst themselves or their friends that you applied for a role there, so in theory the fact that you applied could make it back to your current employer.
I wouldn't let this stop you applying for the position.

I think the reality is that if i apply for a job in company X and the recruiter/manager know someone that i worked with or work with a call will be put in
