Tablets for the kids

Morning all.

Looking for 2 tablets for the young fellas. Got them 7" Kindle Fires last year, managed to install the Play Store, and they were happy enough with that. It's stopped working recently though.

So I'm looking for native Android machines to save faffing around. I'd prefer bigger than 7" this time. Ideally ~10", but maybe 8" if the quality is there.
Doesn't have to be top spec. Just something that'll play tv/movie rips in all the main standards, and will play modern games. Also, expandable memory.

I know I'm not looking for much, especially seeing as I don't want to break the bank either!
The 10" Alcatel A3 in Argos for €80 is gone.

Any and all suggestions welcomed.

I know you said you tried the Amazon, but I can't see a reason not to use them for kids, the inbuild child mode is brilliant, really takes the worry out of it.

The reason I discounted the Kindle is due to the lack of games in the app store. Maybe that's changed in the last 18 months?!

Samsung do a kids mode too though I only ever seen it on my Kids 7 inch tabs

There a few 3rd Party App websites you can get the apps too

My kids enjoy the Dr. Panda and the My Town games as well as others I can't think of, I can't say I've noticed a difference between what's available on the Amazon store and the play store but I haven't looked in detail to be honest.

I've 2 of the kindles with a protective cover I got off ebay, great battery, timers to make sure they aren't on it too long and a bit of safety with the kids mode thing. Saying that, my eldest loves to get my tablet when she can but I think a Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 is a bit overkill for a child.

Sorry to resurrect a slightly old thread but ...

I'm looking for a kids tablet for a 2 1/2 yr old. Something of reasonable price that you can install youtube kids on. I thought a quick google would suffice, but there's so many opinions/options out there. I see you've to configure the fire tablets to get youtube kids to work. Is there a chance once you do that amazon could block it at a some point?

Basically all I want is
* Something sturdy with a case
* Can hang it on the back of a car seat
* Can play youtube kids

since you only need youtube the fire 7 will probably do.

it's pretty easy to set up the google play store on it an no it won't be removed / blocked

this would be the most economical option and the rugged aspect is good when kids are involved!

the kids version will be on sale for a cheaper price over the next couple of weeks so keep an eye out to save some money. currently 99£

or you could buy the normal fire hd 7 and buy a rugged case for it which would work out cheaper. here is a rugged case

the normal fire 7 will be on sale for 30 £ for the basic one over the next few weeks.

for the headrest you'll need to buy another item to attach it to that.
