My wife's ability to park has been totally degraded by our current car's use of 360 degree cameras. Now we're due a change in the next year (sooner the better) and she doesn't want to lose them.

I drive electric so my choices are limited, and for the battery size I want the options will be the upcoming Kia Niro EV, Hyundai Kona EV and the next version of the Nissan Leaf (not the 40kWh one just released).

I don't really want to go with Nissan again but I know the Leaf will have the 360 cameras. I dislike Nissan due to a few issues and I would personally prefer the Kia.

I've seen some vague facebook adverts in the past about 3rd party upgrades to install surround cameras on any car and feed it into the in car display but I've yet to see any real examples or first hand experience.

Thoughts? Who knows, the Kia and Hyundai may end up having the feature but I won't know until release dates and details come out in a few months.

Ah just get a car with a rear camera and sensors. These features that take all the thinking and judgement out of things are great, but ultimately they make you less skillful.

I agree with you, but what the lady wants, the lady gets.

Plus I don't want my shiny new car scraped to bits.

    Try https://alba-automotive.ie/

Website is mainly showcasing leather retro fit, but I've seen stuff on LinkedIn from the sales guy for reverse camera's etc.

    Other option would be http://www.icesecurity.com/index.php/products/reversing-cameras

Not sure you are going to get 360 degree cameras if the vehicle wasn't designed with them in mind, as the side cameras are usually under the wing mirrors - don't think I've seen any retro fit solutions for that yet.

    Thanks.

Most cars have the cameras, 99% sure both the Kona and Niro will have them as they will be high spec.

It's specifically the surround cameras I'm after!  Looks like she'll just not be allowed to drive it...

The side view camera's on anything I've driven with them, are either integrated in to the wing mirrors, or in small pods under the wing mirrors. Not sure where you'd mount after market ones, and wiring them back to the screen without being visable doesn't seem possible to me.

I mounted one into the wing mirror housing of my own car (passenger side for curbs),
Wired it back through the door boot rubber and all so you would NEVER know it was there (its flush mounted).
    2 problems with it are
I have to select aux on my headunit and then turn on the heated mirrors to power it .
And since the AUX on the headunit is't for a camera its not flipped so the perspective is very confusing (at first).
I was afraid to leave the cam powered all the time as it would probably burn up as its from china :D
