I m in the process of making a Nova playlist consistinf of what was Chris Carys influence.

At the moment I have included the following hits which just transport me back to great times. Please add anything that brings you back.

Hold me tighter in the rain
    The Crown
    Bette Davis eyes
    I wont let you down
    A alk in the park
Its good to be the king

    Thanks in advance

    Thanks pacman.

Its funny that I heard Ronan Collins play that song a few weeks ago nd didnt associate it with Nova until you said it. It was Stepaside featuring the late Paul Ashford.

Just added it to my playlist.:):):)

I've always liked that song - very easy to listen to.

I think it was just Paul Ashford, not Stepaside.

On the strength of the songs that Nova played by Michael Franks (no apostrophe by the way!), I ended up purchasing Passion Fruit. It would not have been my usual style of music - laid back jazz - but I really enjoyed it. I think Nova played one or more other songs from that album, but the two main ones they played were in fact When Shy Calls and Rainy Night in Tokyo. Never Satisfied must have been one of the others! I would hardly have been aware of Michael Franks if it was not for Nova playing those tracks. I say hardly as I think he may possibly have got the odd play on nighttime 2FM (Radio 2 then). And that was probably because of Nova if they did play him!

I recently put a number of songs from Passion Fruit on a playlist on my smartphone as it happens - including the above three songs! Check out the whole album -plenty of other gems. Thank you Nova for Michael Franks and Passion Fruit.

Another song I associate with Radio Nova is This is The Man by Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson. For my money, this album track was far better than the hit duets that they had (Say Say Say, The Girl is Mine).

Mark Cagney played quite a lot of Michael Franks on his show "Midnight Blue" on Radio 2/2FM in the early to mid 80's. And I loved it. He was the only DJ I ever heard playing Michael Franks

    Me again

    Guys

If I get nothing more from starting this thread, than discovering Micheal Franks (no apostrophe) it will have been worthwhile.

He is a bit of a cross between Stephen Bishop and Christophe Cross. Awesome artist.

    Keep them songs flowing please.

Would the likes of Modern Talking/Owen Paul be more Nova 102.7 and the latter Energy 103? Also I thought that they never played Laid Back due to it being such a Sunshine 101 song.

You could be right about Owen Paul.
Laid Back was definitely played. It was one of their "giveaway" songs.

Speaking of which, Suzanna - Arts Company

Owen Paul was from 1986 as was Brother Louis. If anything they were Q102 songs.

Now this one was a Nova track.

    Nope. They were Nova songs.

I wasn't taking the "88FM" thing too literally.
I was thinking of songs that I know were typical Nova songs.

I leave you lot to argue whether I'm right ot not. I didn't realise that my suggestions are so contentious.
