Contact The Irish Guide Dogs as sometimes they have young dogs (not quite puppies) who can't quite make the grade as a guide dogs due to some slight medical condition or temperament

These can be adopted for a donation to the charity

Lucy's dad is a Woodmore retriever (Ring Starr). I will never get another retriever that doesn't have at least one Woodmore parent! I have another retriever who came from a crappy breeder and he has both medical and behavioural issues which I wouldn't want to go through again so I would only recommend getting a retriever from a reputable breeder.
Make sure you have your list of questions ready for the breeder and expect them to quiz you too. If you can get the parents names even better as you can google them and check their hip/elbow scores and check if they've been cleared for PRA etc ;)

The breed club website is here

    http://www.aigrc.com/index.html

As far as I know the club secretary is in Tralee, I know there are quite a few show breeders in Kerry.

We bought ours from a breeder in Killarney.

Just don't assume that they're a great breeder if the pups are IKC reg etc. You need to suss the breeder out, see where the pups are being kept, see the certs for the health checks etc etc
