Hi folks, long story short. I was asked to set up audio description on a satellite box for two sisters who are visually impaired. To be honest I imagined that it was just simply pressing a button as on my Humax remote. No such luck, went through the manual and menu on screen but failed to find an option.

Much appreciated if anyone might know if it is possible, from what I have found via google I might have to do it per individual channel. I won't be seeing the two ladies for a week or two but they do reckon that they had it switched on and by miss pressing some buttons switched it off.

This box would not be that popular in Ireland.

However, from just looking at someof the screen shots (blue menus) of the menus it certainly looks like one of the ALi chipset boxes (Ferguson Ariva/Revez).

There should be a menu to set the audio description to english etc and make it permanetly on (System Setup menu)

Not all programmes may have an AD track, by the way.

I've seen this problem time and time again whereby the "Narrative - audio description" and "English - non description" streams are switched (ITVs in particular) and even setting the defaults in a menu doesnt keep it in check. Pressing the audio button on the remote will give the 2 options and you arrow down to the narative and it switches on that channel. This is obviously useless to someone who is visually impaired.

EDIT: It should have a dedicated option to press the audio button and the two streams options appear on screen in cases where its not defaulting to narrative(Check the blue button on the bottom right - that should enable disable or pull up the streams). What you could do is take the remote apart and remove the rubber buttons that wont be used - splice them with a stanley knife).

You are an absolute gentleman Sir. Thank you for the quick and informative reply. The next time I am over with the Sisters I will do as you have advised.
