What are the best options for dealing with flies? Every summer cows go mad kicking and swatting flies which ends up cutting their udders.

I have endospec which I poured on the bull the other day, waiting for it to kick in to see how effective it is. Are there better pour ons?

I like spot on for flies or 'itches'. Handy stuff to put on too, just one spot instead of down the back.

Late reply, I haven't been online much lately, looking at my phone a lot less when i'm not waiting around for cows to calve.

I bought a bottle of Ectospec, simple pour-on for lice and flies, 10ml on the animals back. I managed to do every cow and my stock bulls, hot day so they were all lying down and I could get up on them quick.

It is easily one of the best things I have ever done on the farm. Most cows have no flies on them, a few of them buzzing around their eyes occasionally and there are only 5-10 on the bulls. Animals are much much happier, no kicking or licking at their udders, no swatting themselves with their tails endlessly. Bulls aren't covered in flies like they usually are. Cows are happily back chewing in peace.

This will become a routine now for me.

Calves teat cut the udders, flies keep it open.

Calve's teeth can cut the udders but I've put it down to their saliva wetting and drying the udder constantly which causes it to crack and then the flies go at it for hours every day, the cow then kicks and licks at the udder worsening it.

I'll have a good luck at every cow today and report back.
