For an 800 x 480 resolution why bother, that's like really crap and can get other projectors for not much more for better

I have an 800x840 €60 projector I use the odd time and it's far better than you might imagine.

Brightness not great, so it really has to be a very dark room, but at about 100" the picture is very decent. A lot more than the resolution would lead you to expect.

I wouldn't be planning on using it to replace my television.
As mentioned above, 800*480 (compatible for 1920*1080p) on a projector is not as bad as you seem to think. A friend of mine has one that he paid a bit more for, but it does not seem to get as good reviews as this, and his one is very decent to watch.
This one seems to have a bit more colour saturation which helps with daylight, but still ideally watched in a darker than daylight room.

For the money, this looks like a good buy. It is $169.99 from Banggood and gets good reviews.

From the description on the amazon UK listing
    Improved performance with Dolby Audio

We made an innovation and improvements from customers by adding Dolby Audio to this projector just for you to have better user experiences.

Native Resolution: 800*480, compatible for 1920*1080p

    Contrast Ratio: 2000:1
    Aspect Ratio: 4:3/16:9
Image Format: JPG, GIF, BMP, TIFF
Video Format: MPG, AVI, TS, MOV, DAT, MP4, VOB
Music Format: MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC, OGG
Support image zoom, 360 degrees flip and full screen.

Word of warning as well - some of these projectors have a 'super color' option which is often turned on by default and looks terrible, totally over saturated. Switching it off gives a way better result. A lot of these Chinese projectors have the same software on them.

Depends on your budget, I'd rather spend a bit more and get something like this, but I would want to enjoy watching movies in HD so full HD would be for me

    That's not a full HD projector though. It's 1280x800.

    But that is €165.
    €100 more (€90 including delivery).

I am not expecting the Abox T22 to be an amazing projector, but for €75 delivered I reckon most would be happy with it and what it can do. It also comes rooted i.e. you would not have to mess around with it.

Any idea how it stacks up versus this?

This one has low lumens / 20k hours lens life...i think the 75 one is excellent but i am giving it a pass as i dont think i need it...

    Penny wise, pound foolish...
Most people have at least HD ready TV's, why go for a worse resolution and blow it up to a 100 inch for the sake of a few extra euro - you will just be disappointed
Suppose it depends how much a videophile you are, one of the reviews makes note of how bad text is on the image.

Yeah, it says not great for text/documents on the amazon listing. If I was buying a projector to use a lot, I would spend more.
But to be used as i plan to use it, it's perfect spec and price.

Whats the reason behind the poor text. I need to to get a cheap portable projector for ppt so I want to avoid ones like this if I can.

I have been looking around a lot since. I would only be using a projector once every now and then. Mainly for Sports and family night Movies.
This seems to be the best (of the well reviewed excelvan projectors) since the Excelvan CL720 for the price. It gets very good reviews everywhere I have seen it (for the price, obviously not to be compared to ACER, Epson or Canon etc).
You can buy it from Germany for $20 shipping, so no VAT or Charges. There was a coupon code for a free screen also, but I can't find it now, it must be expired.
Sometimes if you ask the seller, they will include it as the promotion anyway.

For presentation you need a genuinely decent projector. Not just because of the text consideration - this one in the OP would be OK for Powerpoint Slides - but the brightness is far too low.

In a normal office even with blinds closed, you'd still be barely able to see it on a whiteboard/screen.

    They need very dark rooms.
