If I buy one of these phones online , can I just transfer my Sim Card ( 3 Mobile ) ? Do I have to do anything else to it to get it to work ? My current and previous phones have all been purchased and set up for me in the shop hence my ignorance .

i got one recently for her indoors.
yes, a 3 sim (which she had) worked perfect.
    sd card - no issues.
syncing phone with laptop - no issues

it has fantastic battery life btw...shes an easy user..mainly facebook app...but shes gone 3 days between charges.

camera....well...she had issues on her first field trip with it..the ed sheeran concert in galway....blurry photos...low light ones so noisy etc....i felt bad as i had recommended the phone due to stock android + stock android updates...having a somewhat decent camera for a 200 euro budget was only thing she really asked.

but...i put a port of the google camera on it and in my testing photos are great now....much better.....but i am waiting to see how she gets on with it when she is by herself in low light scenarios etc.
google camera has hdr+ on and i read theres no lag, so i wonder if theres going to be much motion blur issues like in stock mi camera.
either way in photos i took they look great, but all with nothing moving in photos.

stock camera portrait mode works well though.

    nice phone.

Did you have any problems installing the Google Camera App ? I was told that it only worked for a few Android phones .

    went on easy enough.
make sure its windows 10 not 7 (or so i hear)...and you update drivers for device in device manager on windows.

well...for method i used anyway.....it didnt root phone and doesnt effect further ota updates on phone.

I use it with a aux Bluetooth adapter capable of calls and music and parrot at same time so parrot for calls and aux Bluetooth receiver for music.it works well.

Only issue I have is calls on WhatsApp but I think it's the parrot as it's not only on the a1 that the other end cannot hear me.

Set up the phone? No, but you might have to get a new sim card. It uses a very small one (nano?). Make sure that you have your contacts backed up. I thought that mine were. Should have checked, ended up typing them in. I imagine that you need a computer to change the camera, but I don't know if you can use a Mac for that.
