About 45 euro for a single non sunday milking for about 100 cows. No idea how much the operator gets though.

Calm down lad it was only a bit of humor but also true. The farm relief make money while the relief milker runs around like a headless chicken milking as many herds as he/she can. That's the reason when a relief milker gets to know the farmers he/she cuts out the middle man.

When i was fulltime in ireland i would have been €1/hr better off after tax if i went with FRS so going on that alone it could have been €3000 Euro over the course of the year (only realising that now) however i was happy dealing direct with the farmer and an FRS employee told me i was better off too.
Main reason i didnt go with them though was when i was 17 i was looking for regular/weekend milkings and despite the shortage of milkers they never once rang me, also i heard they were crying out for a lad hooftrimming before and theyd provide training etc i had training done and had some experience at it, but typical ireland nepotism was involved and they gave it to a lad that left after a month of it, they said they had plenty if work at milkings if i wanted that i said i have that sorted and ye can go f#ck if ye think im doing it through ye.

    Better living everyone
