Double stabbing at Luas the latest public transport attack

Two men stabbed, one in critical condition. Another man arrested. Video posted a couple of days ago of a man savagely attacking a Dublin Bus driver. Masked gang attacking people on the Dart. Is it time to look at a dedicated transit police organisation or department within the Gardaí to protect our public transport network?

There was never not a time for a dedicated public transport police force. Each Luas line has problems with scummers and junkies and has since the luas opened, Dublin bus drivers have been getting attacked for ages, people have been shooting up/taking drugs on buses for years (since I was a kid and before probably), there's often problems with scumbags robbing people on the trains and gypsies going train to train begging for money.

My personal favourite is putting tissues on free seats and when you move them to sit down asking for a fiver. You touch you buy, entrepreneurship at it's finest

I had heard about that one, never seen it. It must work some of the time if they keep trying it, like the Nigerian Prince scam.

If you ever wanted a reasonable debate about religion, start a thread with a title that makes it obvious that white guys were involved in a multiple stabbing and you can guarantee the seagulls will stay away.
