Hi All,

After years of commuting on my trusty road bike, my commute has been extended. I now have to drive a good section of the way into Dublin, parkup then plan to cycle the rest.

So i am looking for a fold-able E-bike.

The Reason for going Fold-able is that it will fit in the boot if I decide to get a bus or luas the remaining distance
And the reason for going electric is the increased distance each way 20km rather then current 10.
Also I would like disk brakes as this has been recommend to me

I think I am giving myself the most options with this selection.

Can anyone suggest a decent e-bike that is fold-able? Budget is between 1000-1500 but will go a little higher if needs be.

I was in this shop recently checking out there ebikes in Upper Clanbrassil Street, they know there stuff and their range is affordable, worth going in for a chat

I know somebody who uses one of these (a pensioner with not great joint flexibility) and they love it. They have put up about 300km on two months last year. Today they went from Killarney to the Black Valley via the Gap of Dunloe and back again with no problem.

45 to 50km is no problem, when the battery is getting very low, the level of assistance reduces.

Check the fold and weight of the folders. Some of them are very untidy at folding. Some are ok. Some are very heavy.

I would suggest the brompton electric but they are eye wateringly expensive. Even the retro fitted motor kits.

The Brompton does look great. But as you say eye-wateringly expensive!

Another reason for the foldable would be the option to jump on the luas with it, if it were to start lashing rain.

Thanks for that will pop in to them. Have emailed a few places such as CSS but don't think there is many around Ireland.

Thanks for that. It makes me feel old tho to go for the e bike and probably a foldable should be enough.

I spoke to someone who has a foldable ebikes and he said the "normal" brake pads needed to be replaced every couple of months. But now has one with disk brakes, and it is much improved. Better braking with less ware and rear.
