Mitsubishi Outlander warranties

Does anyone have a definitive answer as to whether the 5 year warranty offered on Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV's sold in the UK is valid in Ireland?

My understanding is that Outlanders sold in the UK after Jan 1st 2015 are supplied with a 5 year or 62500 miles warranty which is transferable to subsequent owners (as long as you complete the warranty transfer request). I'm then told by dealers that this warranty covers the car in Europe, including Ireland, but I can't find any information on Mitsubishi websites etc to confirm this. Dealers are often careless with information in this area.

I'm looking for an Outlander PHEV and weighing up the pros and cons of paying a bit more for one covered by a manufacturers warranty as most of the 3rd party warranties I've been referred to specifically exclude EV components such as traction battery and motors etc. If I buy a Jan 2015 UK car with 40k miles I should still have 18 months or 20k miles warranty (whichever comes first) that still applies in Ireland. Am I correct?

I did try to phone Mitsubishi Ireland to get an answer but they don't answer the phone!

Now everyone will jump on me for recommending this person/company again but it would be worth talking to electricautos. He is selling 1-2 of these a week and only buying in ones with warranty left. I know I talked to him about one earlier this year as I was thinking of swapping the Galaxy for one.....

Otherwise a few owners on IEVOA forum so might be worth posting on that....

From my conversation with Phil earlier this year the warranty swaps over no problem, hence why he gets the lower mileage ones.....

Just to edit, I think the IEVOA might have website forum but I use the facebook page.....

Thanks for the recommendation, I've already spoken to Phil and all they had in the near future were GX3H models, I want a GX4H model, but I'll call again and see whats changed.

I called Mitsubishi UK Customer Services and they confirm that the 5 year warranty is valid everywhere in Europe from the date of first registration or 62500 miles, whichever comes first. All they require is that the Warranty Transfer request in the back of the service booklet be returned to them to ensure the warranty information is kept up to date.

I'll check out IEVOA too. Thanks again.

Yeah I wanted the GX4H model as well, they had a couple coming in at that stage but as mentioned it was a few months ago....one of the GX4H models sold while he was bringing it back from UK:P

Would Phil not try and source a GX4H for you if you wanted one?

I’m sure he would, but I may have already found a suitable one in the UK myself.

Thankfully there’s very little route planning needed for an Outlander compared to a Leaf, I can’t see any point in stopping to rapid change along the way to the ferry.

Seems to drive them nuts in Ireland

Now now, I’m a Leaf owner already but rarely, if ever, use the public charging network, and doubt that will change with an Outlander. Unless I need to annoy people :-)

I don’t use the public system with my bev

But if I bought outlander I would use it all the time....just for s**ts and giggles

Just had an email back from Mitsubishi UK to confirm that Outlander PHEV's registered after 1-1-15 are covered by a 5 year pan European warranty.....

I can confirm that the manufacturer’s warranty on your vehicle is a pan European warranty and as such any failure that your vehicle might suffer which is the consequence of a defect in manufacture would be rectifiable in Ireland. I would also point out that the manufacturer’s warranty stays with the vehicle and is not subject to being separated from the vehicle with a change of ownership.

Yep, they called on Friday to let me know but by coincidence black was about the only color I didn’t want! They are indeed very helpful and friendly, I know a few people who’ve bought cars from them and they’ve all been very happy with the service they’ve received.

This car ticks nearly every box for me. Perfect for my commute and really well equipped.

I just can't get past how fugly it is.

I wish Mitsubishi could just make it so it doesn't look like a pig on wheels. 🀢

Our other car is a Leaf so this is a step up in the aesthetics dept :D

I actually like them, I think they look best in black and in the higher spec black on black with chrome.
Pity the EV range is so short.
(now if they could just remove that fuel tank and engine, and give it a 60kWh battery!)

    Seriously?

I think the current Outlander is a lovely car. I very nearly bought one and if they bring out a full bev version, I definitely will.

I love the look of them, far nicer than a lot of jeeps available

Jet black and tinted windows and they are a great looking jeep...

Visually, I think the reason the outlander doesn’t quite work is the wheelarches and the size of the wheels and tyres.

Because the wheels and tyres are quite small, and the ride height is a bit low, the distance between the top of the wheel arch and the bottom of the rear side windows is massive, which makes the door look tall, which makes it appear like the rear sdoor is narrow, which makes the rear quarter panel and rear overhang look awkward.
This also makes the car look tall and narrow.

Because there’s no running strip or even a body line halfway up the door, it makes it very slab sided and not very butch.

That’s my take on it anyway.

i found this post only after i spoke with Mitsi Ireland and then UK. Once important caveat to add to the above : The car has to have been serviced in line with their recommendations - every 12,500 miles or every year (presumably whichever comes first). Also if you quote the car reg to Mitsi UK they can tell you about any outstanding recalls.

Great, so it seem the OP question is answered.
