    Any laptop suggestions?

    Budget: 350 to 550 (approx)

    Screen size; 15"

Intended use: 12 year old's gaming, probably not too taxing at the mo, but probably more demanding games over the next few years.

Mobility: Mainly just in the one spot at home, but out to Codordojo every week or two.
    Warranty: Dont think so.

What Operating System do you use? Windows 10.

Display; Would like full HD, 1920 x 1080. (Does this really bump up the price?)

    Storage; Would like SSD.

Your budget is very low to be honest, and you want it all. Really you'd need to be spending 800 to get anything close to what you've described...

Really it is the gaming aspect that will drive prices right up. SSD's are starting to appear in lower end laptops, but generally in lower capacity. If you're lucky you might find a 256GB one.

I suppose if those requirements could be filled for that budget it would be a very popular laptop;)
So I should skip either the SSD or the full HD.

Yes, your requirements are just way too high for your price range.

Here's one that's still over budget:
    http://www.pcworld.ie/Product/hp-14bp151sa-14-laptop-black/340886/396.0.0
    Pros:
    1. Good processor
    2. SSD albeit a small one
    3. 8GB of RAM
    4. Good battery life
    Cons:
    1. Wouldn't expect it to be the greatest quality machine
    2. No HD screen.
    3. Small SSD.
4, No dedicated graphics so gaming will be limited.

Really you're just not going to be able to get a machine to game on that money. It depends what you mean by gaming, but for the most part it's a no.

This is the best you will get. Good for most current games that a 12 year old would be playing at reasonable settings.

With delivery, works out at about €620 or so. It would really be bare minimum for a 'gaming' laptop in terms of budget though. Anything cheaper will be a radical step down and not really suitable for any sort of gaming.

    💡
I think I may be better off getting a pc for gaming and update a slow laptop that’s at home for the Codordojo.

If that's possible then that is definitely the way to go imo.

this one would do the job for not much over 600 euro.
graphics card that can run all current games. mx150 is 50% more powerful than the 950m
full hd screen, 8gb ram, small ssd
chinese brand but verified reviews seem ok
battery life may not be great as the cpu is not a low-power laptop cpu but if it's going to be plugged in most of the time would be fine.

The MX150 is definitely not 50% faster than the 950M. They're pretty much identical.

Also I would say that's a big gamble versus the Acer above. Coming from China and I would be wary of what it means for potential warranty claims.

yep - meant than 940m/ mx there. my mistake.
not much better than 950m - still a bit better and more modern architecture though with better direct x12 and more modern nvidia features.

performs with 15 to 20% better fps in most modern games though where nvidia recent features are used

you still get amazon warranty going through their website - probably better than saveonlaptops even though they are a decent site.

acer aren't exactly the most reliable brand in the world either.

and all the verified purchase reviews are good in fairness.

not much in the two I suppose

Got a pc instead, better idea. Will reset & update a laptop.
    Thanks for the replies.
