    Hi,

So I'm stopped at a junction and wish to turn left. I have three things I need to do: turn steering to left, before straightening up, as well as changing from 1 to 2. In what order should I do things and how should I grip the steeping? Should I do the gear change after straightening up or is that too late? If so, how do I turn with just one hand on the steering? Any videos?

    Thanks,
    Barra

    The process should be:

1: 1st gear, release clutch, accelerate and begin moving forward.
2: change quickly to 2nd gear.
3: Begin turn using the push pull method of turning. This video seems good: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lxa6lF-l13c

To continue around the turn in 1st gear would likely have the engine labouring which is not ideal. Obviously there is no rule that will fit all situations, but the above process should be one that applies to most. Some turns can be incredibly tight and require 1st all the way around, but I would consider these rare.
