Foreshore Shooting Licence 2018

My foreshore shooting licence expires in a few months so I downloaded an application form this evening.

It has been changed from the one I used in 2013 in that NPWS are now requiring shooters to fill in the make, model and serial number of the shotgun(s) which will be used plus specific details of the type of decoys to be used, if any. They also ask for the number of the relevant current firearms certificate.

Have they a right to this information or has someone made it up as they go along?

That's pretty much the same type of information they ask for when applying for a deer licence. I believe NPWS is entitled to look for evidence of an applicant having access to a suitable firearm before they issue a licence. NPWS rangers have quite substantial policing type powers and authority in relation to firearms in the context of the Wildlife Acts as well.

Wonder how they would react,if at all, if you put down SPAS15,UTAS 18 or Saiga12?:D:D All perfectly legal BTW if they only fire 3 shots out in the duck blind.

If they're of the non-convertible restricted magazine semi-auto kind it's all hunky dory. Cumbersome yokes for hunting though....

Er,nothing in the legislation about them being "non convertible mags" "incapable of firing more than 3 shots".:)
