I'm probably on the wrong forum, forgive me if I am .
I'm trying to book flights from London(any airport, pref Heathrow)toShannon for Sat may 26th and they are coming in around €130-150. That seems very dear to me, or is it about right?

That’s good for a Saturday flight.

Taxes for flights from heathrow are expensiveand you’ve left it rather late to book as well, so that price isn’t a surprise.

That weekend is also a UK bank holiday weekend so those prices would be the norm.

Dear Lord, back in the 1980's we paid 150 pounds to fly to Heathrow.

Big difference between Luton and Heathrow (the price, for example).

As I said from the outset, I want to fly out of London, it doesn't have to be Heathrow!

Would I get a better price closer to date of departure?

Only if you book on a Tuesday.

Or you might get no price, closer to the date.

What price were you thinking you would get it for?

Weekend flight, less than 2 weeks in advance... I would be fairly happy it's €130-150.

That's more or less what I would expect a flight to cost with those parameters. There also the Rail 'n Sail. . . .'n Rail

Prob no comfort to the OP, but I booked flights to Germany from Dublin for June back in Jan, cost me 38€ each way. Out Fri, back Sunday.

In comparison, the taxi cost from my house to Dublin airport will be €55 each way.

I just thought a late flight on a Saturday might be cheaper. Who heads away for a weekend late on Saturday?

You'll be a day late for #HomeToVote, OP.

In Cavan there was a great fire / Judge McCarthy was sent to inquire / It would be a shame / If the nuns were to blame / So it had to be caused by a wire.

You didn’t say it was late until now.

It’s a U.K. bank holiday. That means they have an extra day, or a week if they are taking that off.

I didn't specify a time, anytime on the Sataurday will do.

BTW, I do know what a bank holiday is.

If you seen some at 130 you should have booked them. Cheapest now is 142.

You don’t appear to. You asked why are people travelling on a bank holiday Saturday so much that it increases the price. Because it’s a bank holiday (and you left it late).

Not sure what help you were expecting here.

Heathrow flights have a minimum price due to all the lovely taxes and charges, about €92 for the Heathrow to Shannon sector.

To be honest, the price you quoted doesn't seem shocking or strange whatsoever. Infact, I'd have expected higher.

What about all the others then, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton?
I know it's a bank holiday weekend but who starts a bank holiday weekend on Saturday night?

The 21:40 flight from Shannon to Stansted is €15 with Ryanair. Obviously gets you to London very late

I didn't reference the bank holiday weekend. The late flight the following day is the same price (in pounds anyway).

It's mainly because it's just over a week away that you're seeing slightly inflated pricing.
