Do you buy your products online? What % roughly?
Do you shop for the best price regardless or stick with shopping in a brick and mortar store?
Do you use online comparison tools?
Is Aliexpress to your door easier than paying 23% vat in Dealz?

This is in the light or more businesses closing and disappearing

    Dealz.

    Who does their shopping there?

This is the reason for boarded up shops in our towns and villages. Only chain stores can compete with interweb prices.

Haven't bought shoes or clothes in a shop for ten years or more.

    That reads like an interrogation.

Well if you live in a remote area the chances of a courier finding you, in my considerable experience ,are minimal.

The rare times I buy i insist on An Post.

Would love to see the reaction when I told them I am on a small offshore island....;)

Nothing is cheaper than what I buy...I use charity shops etc also. Dealz and MrPrice... ALDI and LIDL.,,,and no shipping costs etc . I see no need to shop online.

This problem has been eliminated by Eircode. Use that and you'll get the delivery no problem.

Does DoneDeal count as buying online? Even though it's not delivered

We have bought much more online since Eircode. Now couriers can find our very rural address. I mostly buy books and fishing supplies, as the choice is so much greater online and it saves quiet a journey to source them. Mrs S buys clothes because it's better value and, again, more choice online. We're both pensioners so it took a bit of adjustment to buying items 'unseen' but it's handy and convenient.
Groceries are still B&M, and we like to support local shops, that have what we might need, whenever we can.

Hey there was no sarcasm intended or expressed; as I said, I was grateful for your concern and advice..and that too was sincere OK? OK !

I have always used an post as they serve any address, know where we live, have regular deliveries and do not need a phone number as couriers do. An post are dependable, and rural postmen are great. YAY for An Post..

General everyday stuff still B&M; food, clothes etc, Online pretty much all the way for the more 'special interest' stuff, motorbike parts, gym equipment, supps etc.gifts are 50/50.
Clothes wise I much prefer B&M, sizes vary too much (online and B&M) so it's good to get a hands on check.

I buy 95% of everything I purchase online. I even do my grocery shopping online, however, the products come from the nearest Tesco but that's not an Irish shop so not "shopping local".

I have 2 reasons for shopping primarily online, the first is that my nearest town has little in terms of selection for my taste and I drive a motorbike so I can't carry a whole load of shopping on it.

Apart from groceries, everything I buy is online. Same day and next day delivery make it very easy now.

I do buy everything online besides groceries and clothes. I prefer to do my weekly shop, takes me 1,5 hours and I can pick my fruit and veg myself. Just prefer it that way. With clothes I've made too many bad experiences that I bite the bullet and walk into shops, even though I discovered some really nice cheap eastern European made-to-order tailors that do exactly the stuff I like which is not very mainstream.
I also do a monthly Dealz trip to stock up on Lyons tea, cleaning products and hygiene products.

But beside that I prefer to buy online, the only thing I care about at the end of the day is the best price, when you don't have a ton of disposable income that's what matters really. I know it's not a good attitude towards the economy but I think I'm well within my rights to be a bit selfish when it is about my money.

Clothes are mainly B&M, though I buy most of my sports stuff online because I know the brands sizing etc. Other clothes have been a disappointment in the expectation vs reality stakes unless I know the brand and sizing.

Groceries I prefer to choose myself but I do the online stuff happily if I'm pressed for time or sick or something. I've been away from home and had a grocery shop delivered to my partner because I know he'd forget the important stuff but still manage to buy junk if he found his way to the supermarket himself.

Most other stuff I can think of I'd happily buy online. Tech, homewares and bedding I've all bought online and been happy with.

Most of what I want can't be bought in shops. I ordered a pair of headphones on Aliexpress recently for about €53. Although they haven't arrived yet they seem like they're pretty decent. If I went into town and looked for a pair for that price all I'd find is absolute crap.

What I hate about buying online is when my stuff gets delivered by courier. I once missed a delivery and got a note saying I could reschedule online. I was getting another delivery from the same courier so I rescheduled both of them for the same day. The courier company completely ignored this and delivered them on different days, neither of which were the day I had scheduled.

Another time I ordered six or seven CDs from Amazon. They came all the way from California, went to England, then were shipped to Dublin before being driven to Carlow. As soon as I answered the door to the courier I saw him dropping the CDs on the footpath and the covers breaking in shite. I accepted them like an idiot instead of complaining, mainly because my mother was in hospital and I had enough to worry about without getting into an argument with the courier company or Amazon.

If Amazon or eBay told me beforehand that what I was ordering was going to be delivered by courier I just wouldn't buy it.

Mostly in store, especially for clothes, I’m 6’3 and broad so I jump from L through XL and XXL depending on the brand. If I know the sizes are reliable I’ll jump online for them.

For electronics though I’ll browse in store then search the code online for the lowest price , then go back in store and see if they can match,

One thing I'd never buy online again is groceries. I was sick for a while recently and couldn't make it into town so I started ordering from Tesco. Every delivery I got would have something stale or rancid in it. The worst was when they delivered cheese and it was covered in this wet slop.

I'm convinced Tesco pack crates with food hours before they're to be delivered and store the crate in a room that's far too hot for refrigerated food.
