This may come across as stupid to some people but since I can't find a solid answer online I might as well ask here...

I'm close to buying a new car and I have my eye on one with a TS reg. It's a 2010, is there a simple way of getting its reg changed to D or MH?

    Thanks!

I'm sure you can't change a reg but what's wrong with a TS reg ?

Nothing, but the fact it's so far away from home and it's outside of Ireland. People would soon become aware it's my car by just glancing

According to reliable online research somewhere a D reg car will sell for 12% more than an identical car with a non D reg.

Didn't know that, but makes sense since it's the capital, thanks for the info! :)

Nothing to do with what I asked but sure, it's northern Ireland is what I meant

If you are going to be living in the north you can and have to register the car there and get a northern reg. You will also be able to get a vrt rebate on the car because You are exporting it.

Just if you get the rebate you will have to repay the vrt if you move back South again.

Then why bring it up? And why are you evasive about it when asked?

This has nothing to do with what I asked originally please stop being a burden I asked a simple question about a vehicles registration I'm not interested in anything else you or the other guy have to say. My confusion in the first place being maybe because the car is registered in northern Ireland could I have it VRT'd or some other way. Is that ok?

    That's even more confusing..

T.S. reg is a Tipperary South reg. (Southern Ireland)
If you buying it in N.I. and bring it down south it makes no difference as it already has a Southern Ireland plate. You're stuck with that reg.

    This was sarcasm!

I know Tipperary men who would sooner take the bus than drive a KK reg.

Personally I wouldn't drive a TS, TN or T reg as Tipperary people are loopers! There was a thread about same recently.

Trust me, the “reliable online research“ ain’t so reliable if 12% is the figure being quoted.... sure, certain models will fetch a little more with a d Reg in some parts of the country but def not 12% more... there’s no hard and fast rules on this as the variables affecting the price of any given car are many
