Hi, Myself and my hubby are looking at going away for 4 to 5 nights the middle of Sept. We're stumped as to where to go. We would like a short flight time, somewhere hot but NOT the Canarie Islands as we've done them all too death lol. We went to Marbella last year and enjoyed it but want to try somewhere new. We're looking for somewhere with a bit of class and luxury to it, somewhere you wouldn't take the kids :P Budget wise I suppose we'd be looking at 3 to 5k including flights.

Any ideas and suggestions would be great.

Was thinking to suggest Majorca as well, we actually booked Cala D'or in September as well, been there before and water is still warm in September, we loved it.

    Ibiza or Formentera

Or Malta (would be warmer, but not sure if a four-hour flight is outside your definition of "short")

San Sebastián in the north of Spain.
Plenty of class and not to warm

Thanks guys for the suggestions. We had thought of Ibiza and Majorca but have no idea where on the island to stay. We're not into clubbing, more wine bars lol and somewhere quiet and relaxing during the day. We love the heat. HeidiHeidi we've been to Malta and didn't think much of the area we stayed in. We were in St Julians Bay. We loved Valletta and would like to go to Goza but think for a 4 night break we'd spend too much time travelling.

I'll take a look at Nice but so far the type of hotels and rooms we normally stay in are coming in at 4k per night

    Have you been to Rome?
    Budget 3-5k,.. That's plenty substantial :)

Nice for me. Move out of the city to somewhere like "St Paul de Vence" and use it as your base. Public transport is great and very cheap. Take the train to Monaco or even into Italy (Menton is very close and is a lovely town).
Good food, warm weather and beautiful scenery....What's not to love!!

Malta is fantastic and will be very pleasant in September as is Sicily and Crete and of the three Malta would be my preference. You would also easily do 4-5 days for that budget as it is so inexpensive there.

St Julian's is awful! It's the hotel/nightclub strip and I hated it. But that's only one small bit of the island.

Ibiza.... San Antonio is the St Julian's of that island, so avoid! Basically everywhere else is lovely. Ibiza town does have the nightclubs but we stayed in an airbnb apartment right under the old town and it was absolutely fine ( big clubs are the other side of the huge harbour). St Eulalia is lovely but very quiet and quite English (may be a good or a bad thing for you!). The island is small and car rental is cheap and there's any amount of lovely beaches and bays to visit. Ferry to Formentera which is really gorgeous.

Sam Quentin we're only back from Rome. We enjoyed it but we're looking for more of a lie on a sunbed sipping cocktails type holiday lol.

heidiHeidi we stayed in the Hilton a couple of years back and the area was just awful. I wouldn't mind but we were only 33 years old so I would like to think we weren't over the hill. We did see other parts of the island which were much nicer.

Bailmeout we were actually looking at Crete and had found a hotel The Royal Blue Resort which ticked our boxes but the flights aren't great. Only 2 flights a week, a Wednesday and Saturday, so we'd only get 3 nights at 2.5 days there. Unfortunately due to work commitments and having 4 kids its just not possible for us to go for a week :(

Definitely Nice :) Wonderful spot. Grab an Airbnb for your stay.. usually pretty cheap and a lot of them have great views too.

How about somewhere in northern Italy? Lake Como or Garda?
Still nice & warm, plenty of flights. Good food & wine.....

Seville is a grand spot, 2 flights a week from Dubs with Ryanair.

Illetas in Majorca is a lovely little spot. Wonderful beach, some very nice restaurants and 20 minutes on a direct bus in to Palma centre. Its about €30 in a cab from the airport as well, so easy to get to for a shortish break. The regular bus into Palma also goes to the train station, so you get the train up to Soller for the day, or just meander around the old town for a few hours.

just up the coast (<€10 cab) you have Puerto nous and the marina at Puerto Portals, which has some top class places in the marina to eat and you can easily spend a few hours gawping at the millionaires on their sizeable yachts.
