This is probably a long shot but I have a bird(i assume) in my back garden that is making a high pitch monotonous sound lasting about 2 seconds. Like ttzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz . It sounds like it comes from a small bird and I live suburbs of Dublin . Anybody got any ideas? cheers

A few come to mind. Could be Greenfinch.

no not Greenfinch. I would not even describe it as a song more like a snake hiss but higher pitched.

Actually it is very like the treecreeper one but longer. I highly doubt it is treecreeper as there are no big mature trees right in my or neighbours garden, but you never know i guess, thanks

Chick/fledgling in nest hedge or on ground calling for food?

See if you can spot any of the visitors to your garden among these, if you click on the image they have samples oftheir calls. They're for UK birds, though, so some might be missing.

Robin chicks/fledglings make high-pitched, hissing calls.

Does this sound often come from ground level or near ground level by any chance?
