Zgemma H2H Terrestrial Tuner Problem

    Hello Folks,

just wondering is it my box or am I doing something wrong?

I have a zgemma h2h which I intend to use for FTA sat and saorview. FTA sat works fine, but I am having trouble with the T2s tuner.

I am using Mt Leinster channels 23 & 26 on 490 & 514 Mhz respectively. But the box will only get one of the two and is struggling to acquire a lock on it, too. The weird thing is it may be channel 23 that is (almost) working one moment and channel 26 isn't. 5 minutes later it may be the other way around.

UHF aerial is brand new on the roof and so is the wiring and my TV which has a saorview receiver too is working 100% fine from the same TV point. But I want it all on the zgemma obviously what with recording and combined EPG etc.

There doesn't seem to be anything obscure in the configuration. Only thing I can think of is the active aerial switch both in software and on the back of the zgemma. I have them both in off position since my aerial is not powered in any way.

Any idea or is the box simply faulty?

    cheers

    Fritti

I was not aware of an aerial switch on back of zgemma, i know there is one inbuilt into the software and might need switching on before a rescan?

Actually I figured it out. Should have been a little more methodical before posting.

It appears signal strength is somewhat down today and I had to switch the amp on at the distributor in the attic. Now all back to perfect. Was hoping I wouldn't need the amp but it appears not.

    But thanks (and sorry)

Most amplifiers don't pass any signal when they're powered off, so in that case you'll either have to leave it on all the time or just use a passive splitter if you don't think the amp is needed, & you'd rather do without it.

Thanks I'll check that out. If I could I'd rather do without an amp running 24/7.

Edit: Spot on, I have no passive splitter at hand but I connected the cables directly in the attic and I get over 90% signal strength. Previously - with the switched off amp - it must have been from whatever it picked up through the AV cable alone. Nice one, thanks.
