I'm going to look at a few leafs this week, 24kW 2015 SV. What sort of things should I be looking out for or pertinent questions to ask. So far I can think of the following:
    Number of bars on right hand of gauge {12 is best}
    Uneven wear on back tyres
    Granny cable included
3.3 or 6.6 kW charger (not that important to me)
    No exhaust :-P

Is there anything else, e.g. values from leaf spy, that I should look for?

    Thanks

You’ve covered most of the bases there.

With LeafSpy you’ll get a more precise idea of the state of health of the battery than counting bars.

Don’t forget that the Leaf is basically the same as any car for mechanical things like brakes, suspension, steering, etc., so check those out too.

I got my local Nissan dealer to inspect mine before I bought it and it gave me great peace of mind. It cost €80, though. If the car you’re looking at is anywhere near its next service interval, you’d be as well to get it serviced instead of just inspected. The service includes the inspection, and costs about €130. I paid €80 for the inspection, then about 2 months later I paid €130 for pretty much the exact same thing again.

This car should come with 3 year warranty so check the month of registration as you may have some cover left on non-battery warranty to sort any issues that come with 3 year warranty.

Don’t forget that granny cable was a paid extra so may not be present in every car. It’s not a bad thing if it’s not included.

Except for UK imports - it was standard over there right?

Yes but anybody upgrading may just keep the granny cable. I know I probably would. The car should come with at least one cable when buying second hand in my opinion.

Either a granny cable or the cable to connect to a home charger/ public charger.

That was a bargain! Seeing it was a Nissan dealer, you would have had comeback too if something in the car was wrong that you could have expected a main dealer to detect.

I'm very surprised they did it for just €80!

It was basically a full service but without any parts. They checked it very thoroughly, including brake pad wear and battery health. Having had the car serviced there since, the inspection and report was identical. Only difference with the service was they added washer fluid, changed the pollen filter, washed the car and stamped the book.

I thought it was €80 well spent at the time, as I requested that they look for any potential issues that would be covered by warranty before the 3 years was up. But in hindsight I would have been better off paying €130 and getting the inspection and service done in one go. I wasn’t to know at the time though.

And the only part, the pollen filter, is something like €40 plus VAT!

In most of my recent cars, I've changed the pollen filter myself. Usually a very easy DIY job.

I'll probably do it myself too if I still have the car when the warranty has run out.

Got our Leaf serviced recently for warranty purposes, hence I know what the price is like. And the service manager had the cheek to tell me that 129 was a "cheap service" (I presume he means relative to a fossil burner). It is a p*sstake as it took all of about 10 minutes.

Our second L30 service was €76 (without pollen replacement) at main Nissan Dealer
