I only started studying for the Leaving Cert a few days ago, and I’m stressing out

I feel so stupid. I kept putting off starting and the panic is hitting me now. Am I seriously fecked? I want to get in the mid-400s, I got 425 in my Mocks. I was aiming for B1s in English, Biology, Business & History & high Cs or low Bs in Spanish and Irish, but now I’m not so sure. Anyone else left it this late and still managed a fairly good result?

Plenty of time left. I wouldnt worry about it. Do a few hours when get home. Take a break,and then do a few more. Tbh i only started 1st week of may

You did well enough in the mocks to build on.

Do up a timetable. There’s probably not a lot of point going into school next few weeks.

Just spend the time at home studying instead.

Late is starting in June, it's not even mid may loads of time

As a Mum of 2 who have done the leaving cert and 1 doing it next year please dont worry you did well in your mocks. Start studying for a few hours a day dont keep your head in a book for hours on end. I have told my own 2 its not the end of the world if you have to repete because you were short of a few points. Do your best thats all you can do. Good luck

Look at the positive side, you did well in the mocks with very little study done. Now you need to make out a study plan for the next few weeks. Prioritise what you feel are essential bits of the course and work on these first. Be kind to yourself and make sure to get some exercise each day.

You will be ok, the leaving cert is just a hurdle in life not a destination. There are lots of ways of getting into the job you want. Best of luck.

You'll be amazed at what information you have retained and with the results of your mocks you seem to be doing fine. Do not panic. While mine are not quite at that stage I will be making sure they know that there is more to life than stressing over the LC - a bit of pressure is good but not to the detriment of your emotional wellbeing. Plenty repeat and if that's an option at least you have that to fall back on. Start today. Make sure you have a comfortable, quiet space at home and work out a study plan for the coming weeks and do your best to stick to it. Take regular breaks for a snack. Do not have your phone/iPad/other gadgets nearby. If you need help with any topic in a particular subject ask for it at school. Hopefully all you are doing now is revision so make the most of the fact that teachers may have a bit of time in class to be able to go over stuff that you, and possibly other students, are unsure of. Make up your own time table.

TBH, if you are weaker in some subjects (and we all are weaker in a subject to another), I wouldnt be looking to spend a lot of time on the weaker ones. They are not to be igorned obviously, but less emphasis on them.

I remember I was terrible at Irish and History (hated the long, pointless essays at higher level. I like facts). And then concentrated more on subjects that Id be stronger in.

Would be concentrating on getting higher levels Cs to Bs and Bs to higher Bs/As. That's where the points are.

put a bit of time into looking into having a strategy for answering questions and having the grader on your side post exam especially when it comes to the more essay style exams.

I’m awful at Irish. I spent at least a third of my time studying the week before the mocks purely on Irish. I did manage a B, but it was probably to the detriment of my other subjects. Would I be better off learning off my Irish essays around a week or 2 before the exams? I fear I’ll forget any of the essays I learn off now. Irish doesn’t seem to stick in my head for more than 3 days.

Thank you all so much for your advice, it’s really calmed me down. I’ll just give it my all for the next 5 weeks and see what happens
