    It could mean anything, but generally speaking I'd say he's not sure about the two of you.

    I really like him.
    I thought feeling was mutual but I suspect there is someone else

    You really have not provided any info for posters to advise on.

    What was the context of him stating he needed to think? If it was after a row he possibly needs to mull it over. If he just asked for a break while he thinks then no it doesn't look good.

    How long are you together. What ages are you both?

    It is not usually a good sign anyway.
