Amazon.co.uk returns - who pays

Am returning an Amazon Prime item as I did not find it worked very well (not defective though) and Amazon indicates the return cost is £0. I now have to repackage and stick on a label that says postage paid etc. But there's a note in the email that I may be subject to paying return fees if my reason for return is not valid?

So is the return postage free or will it be deducted from the item cost?! There's no mention of free returns on the original item listing...

I've never had issues returning to Amazon, especially if the item is sold by Amazon directly.

Sounds like nothing to worry about to me. Send it back, you'll be fine.

If it deemed to be customer damage, then your refund will fail and you'll pay the return fee.

I had an issue with Amazon regarding this before where they told me in chat the return would be free and gave me a shipping label to print, yet they ended up deducting the return cost from my refund,I think it was around 6 euro. I had a chat log though so they gave back the return postage cost.

If the product is defective or a mistake by amazon, the return is free. Otherwise the return cost will be deducted.

not sure if you just skimmed the OP. It is not damaged, they said it did not work well, so could be considered a change of mind. But if could well be "not fit for purpose".

As postage can cost an absolute fortune I would try and get something confirmed first, especially if it is a low cost item -where postage is often a lot more than the cost of the item.

I had to send amazon back a tshirt, I was surprised they did not just tell my do keep it as return costs are so high, but they might get huge discounts.
