I'm trying to find out if I will be entitled to the oap pension when I retire, I'm 58 years old (female) I've worked erratically all through my working life so I don't think I qualify for a state pension but I've heard if I pay Volentery contributions I may qualify, can someone tell me how this would work?.. I did look on the revenue website but I really can't understand it.

I've been working part time for the last 10 years and don't pay tax on my wage but I do pay USC.

Go to your local CIC and ask them to help you register for MyGov so you can apply for a copy of your PRSI record.
Then CIC will advise you about your pension entitlements.
Many changes are coming regarding pensions.
Revenue is not the department dealing with state pensions. It’s DEASP.

You find the conditions and rules for voluntary pension contributions here:

Neither tax nor USC matter for the pension - what you need to find out is whether you / your employer are paying PRSI.

You need to get a copy of your PRSI record from Welfare; what splinter65 wrote above is correct - but if you're not computer literate, then you can get your PRSI history as follows:-

A person who is not in a position to use the online facility to request a PRSI statement can contact the Department’s customer service team for assistance on (01) 4715898. Customers who wish to use a LoCall option can call from a landline on 1890 690 690. The customer service team is available to assist from 9am to 5pm; and is also open during lunchtime.

Let this thread know when you get the statement and someone will explain it to you.
