Job Interview

Hi all hope someone can help

So I have gotten an interview for job as receptionist in a hotel in the west region of Ireland, coming up and I really would like to get this job.

The problem that I have is that I lack confidence and have a bit of a speech Impairment problem, where I usually have to repeat what I say for people to fully understand me, and this leads me to be self conscious.

Does anyone have any tips to help me and what I should prepare for the interview

What questions might be asked and I know the standard questions along the lines of

    So tell me about yourself
What do you know about the place
Tell me about a time when you showed great customer service to customers
Tell me about a time when you dealt with difficult situations

Any help or tips would be Gratefully appreciated

    Hi OP,

Congrats on getting an interview. There is an excellent website I use to prepare for job interviews, check it out and hopefully it will help you prepare for every eventuality that may arise.

Don’t stress or overthink about your speech impairment issue just take plenty of deep breaths to keep you relaxed and try to plan what to say before you say it or even practice out loud when you are at home.

All interviews are nerve racking but the more you prepare then the less stressful it is in my opinion.

    Best of luck to you.

Could you get someone to give you a practise interview before the real interview? It definitely helps!

Remember the interviewers aren't trying to catch you out... they want the best person for the job, and are hoping you'll be a good fit. If you come across as an enthusiastic person eager and willing to work, then you will be fine!

    Best of luck!

Yes I agree, practise as much as you can with someone else. I often talk the answers to possible questions out to myself in the car going to an interview particularly the "tell me about yourself"one or the "is there anything else you want to add" one though I haven't had the first one lately. Another typical one is the " what do you know about us" one, so research and be very familiar with it.
    And best of luck.

I'm guessing that this is not going to help with the job role unfortunately. Hotel receptionists are usually required to be full of confidence and easily understandable for both English speaking and foreign customers.
