Driving test Cork

I first applied for my driving test in Cork in February 2017, knowing I'd be out of the country from mid July to the end of August I assumed this was plenty of time to get my test done. Unfortunately I was given a date for the week I left, I rang to see if anything could be done but I was told I'd simply have to cancel and apply again. I was given a date for November 2017 which I sat and failed. I reapplied straight away in November and finally got a date for this May. Last week however my test was cancelled by the RSA with no reason given and I was given a new date for July when I will again be out of the country. Again I rang up and was told to cancel and reapply, and to expect a date sometime in the Autumn. I know it is my fault for being out of the country but at the same time I can't put my life on hold for six months waiting for a test date. It seems like the waiting times are getting worse and worse, is anything being done about them does anyone know?

Could you not reapply on the cancellation list, then give them a call and see if they have a slot? If you're ready to sit the test there's no reason to sit around waiting for them to send you a test date, if you keep calling you'll eventually get a cancellation slot, but obviously you'll have less notice. But if you were planning on sitting it in May anyway that shouldn't be a huge issue?

Each time I applied it was to the cancellation list, I could keep ringing them I suppose but they've always been really rude when I've called :/

I'd say just keep calling I'm sure it's just a matter of who you get on the phone! Would you consider taking the test at a different centre either?

Ring them everyday. Sometimes they're no help on the phone and sometimes you're great. I failed my test first time around and had the second one done and passed within a month because I called them up everyday for a cancellation.
