FM Aerial question

    Hi all,
We recently got an infrared sauna and it has a built in FM radio.

There is a double core small white wire that is joined (ie the 2 wires are joined together) and soldered to a small telescopic aerial, but it seems to be useless.

Also, there is a power supply box and electrical wires all around and beside the aerial and was wondering if this would cause interference?

I live in an area with poor coverage, but is there a tidy indoor aerial that would work well for us?
    Any suggestions would be great.

I have also got one of those as its basically a car radio fitted into the unit and aerial may need to be extended as its a mast and moved around to a better angle,2 wires should not be soldered together as one is a feed and other an outer screen but usually looks like tv coaxial cable.

I know the ones you're talking about but this one is different. It's a panel inside the sauna.
I removed it and the aerial is just a double wire going onto 2 pins on the back of a circuit board:

I'll wire a coax down to that point from the omnidirectional aerial I just got.

So I got an omnidirectional FM aerial and put it in the attic - made feck all difference :(

I have an old FM broadcaster for a phone (for a car radio) and it picks that up no problem, so I'm gonna have to conclude it's just that I have a ****e signal.

Is there any type of booster that will work with FM ?

I did same and had same bad results but from a little research I think it maybe the resistance of the coax between. Don't think satellite quality coax is good enough.

I'd say the quality of the components in the radio is also a factor.

Here's where the aerial connects to the unit (The small white plug with 2 prongs in the top right):

I'd say you're better off as you can upgrade the radio if you ever need to.
