I imported an Audi A4 from a main dealer in UK last year. 2014 and has 33k miles on the clock. The next service is due in the next few months and I'm wondering whether it's worth my while shelling out for a main dealer service or am I better to find a decent independent garage to do it. I'm based in Dublin 9.
The plan is to change the car within 2 years so resale value is important to me.

I'd definitely keep main dealer basic service for a reasonable set cost. Its very useful in keeping a verifiable mileage record. Consider any extra works on a case by case basis but in general it would be cost effective to take additional works to independent garage.
So book in for basic service. Get a list of suggested works and get them taken care of separately.

Cheers Mickd sounds like sage advice. Last thing I want is to be going back to buy a car from said dealer in a few years only to screw me on the service record!

Some of the dealer set pricing for basic servicing is quite reasonable. It's when they get you to agree to extra work that they make the killing. Not saying it's not needed but shop around or diy simple stuff.
Stuff like air filter and pollen filter can be do for tiny cost away from dealer. Diesel filter is best left to mechanic but any mechanic could do it.
Brake fluid change if due Can be sometimes on offer at dealer but again not a big job to do elsewhere.
any suggested brake replacement I'd suggest get an independent garage to fit genuine parts.

A main dealer could easily give you a list of required work like
    air fuel and pollen filters
    Brake fluid change
    Front discs and pads
with additional costs of maybe 500.
