Just wondering if this happened to anyone or what the case maybe - I was driving my 11 D opel Insignia & got a burning smell then smoke came from the engine and I pulled in on road side soon as and turned off the engine ... Now the engine seems locked , engine lights come on but it's just ticking.

It could be something totally different, like the alternator or a belt or something else.
Get car lifted on a truck to a mechanic.

Are you still on the roadside? Do you have roadside assistance?

Engine failure is very common on these. Because of that, it’s hard to source replacements, and you’ll see loads of them come up on donedeal with blown engines.
Fair as I know it’s usually oil related.

That said. It could be anything, big or small.

It's gone to the garage for investing.

There was a thread in the main forum a week or two ago about an 09 insignia with a seized engine on mobile so can't post a link.

It seems to be a common problem with that era of car any warning lights flash up as it happened or was it just white smoke and then seized.

Maybe 2 or 3 weeks ago Code 3 appeared which I thought was just coolant but I ensured it was good for coolant and water then code 3 went.. yesterday was just white smoke & seized .
