    Good evening!

I live in Sutton, Northside of Dublin.
The last 2/3 weeks as Spring has taken hold, i have notices a fair few thrushes out feeding on the grass or perched on the roadside trees..

I never noticed any during the Winter..

Any ideas where they have come from?

    Thank you!

    A

During winter they can move around in search of food, but in spring and summer they have territories to defend and chicks to feed! So they're very noticeable at this time of year as a result.

Anecdotal evidence is that Song Thrush numbers are down this year, possibly a result of the cold spell in late February!

    Ah ... that is interesting!
I definitely don’t see many at all during winter..
maybe they move here from surrounding areas for the breeding season..I was thinking that perhaps they flew here from overseas!
They have a very distinctive cackling call too..

Sounds like a Mistle Thrush - they are very territorial at this time of year which makes their presence more obvious
