Has anyone been given or seen a detailed dental routine? that they are happy to share.

I followed what the work hygenist said religiously, but the one at the dentist implies this isn't enough or I'm not doing it right. I get confusing info if I google or ask others.

If you have all the recommended oral hygiene products (electric toothbrush, floss&/TePe brushes, ect), then plaque disclosing tablets are very useful.

    What is a tepe brush?

It's an interdental brush made by Tepe. There are different sizes depending on the size of the gap between your teeth and are in different colors. I have picked them up at a pharmacy for around a fiver a pack. Sometimes Boots Pharmacy have offers on them, i.e. buy two and get one free. Tip: after washing your teeth with toothbrush, use them if you have little gaps and be sure to dip them in toothpaste first

My friend is a hygienist so she always gives me the best information. I find having a scale and polish at least twice a year is essential and then using a good electric toothbrush at home, along with either floss or tepe brushes is the best thing you can do! Honestly, the electric toothbrush was a game changer for me!

Whatever you do, make sure you do it RIGHT.

The dentist or hygienist needs to DEMONSTRATE the correct brushing and flossing techniques.

And it may take more than one demonstration to get competent with the technique.

A hugely valuable use of a dentist's time in my opinion.

My dentist said to use a small, soft toothbrush. I have also used an electric one in the past. Sensodyne toothbrushes I find very good and was advised to brush with gentle, round strokes letting the toothpaste do the work. Hard brushing can push the gums and expose the gum lines resulting in possible infections. Also advised to use both Tepe brushes and floss . . . just saying.
