Sparrowhawk on the rampage

    Living in the countryside in Westmeath and a sparrowhawk is taking out starlings / blackbirds on a daily basis. He catches them off the electricity wires and then takes them into a small wooded area in our garden to finish then off. Amazing to see

    Spars don't hatch 'till the end of may, he would be feeding the female while she is putting on condition to lay her clutch. An average of 4 eggs, laid at 2 day intervals. Their chicks are timed to hatch when there is an abundance of fledgling prey species about.....
