Keeping extraction site clean after getting stitches out

    Hi,
I got a couple of wisdom teeth extracted a bit over a week ago, and had the stitches out on Friday. Surgeon said all was well, and I’ve no pain anymore or anything. I’m a little bit confused about what I do now, though. I’ve a shallow-looking black hole in the lower site, where the gum doesn’t meet entirely (the upper site never had stitches, so less bothered about that).

I’ve been continuing with salt water rinses; should I just keep those up until it closes up entirely? Can I safely go back to eating things like rice at this point? Also, I’ve been eating with one side of my mouth for the last week; is it safe to stop that now?

I should probably have asked more questions on Friday, but I was so relieved to be getting the stitches out, and that there were no apparent problems, I didn’t really think about it.

I got 2 out yesterday on either side of my mouth, still very sore but they said it can take up to a month for the hole to fill in.
