What's this bulb doing?

Got an airbag warning light on my car (e90 320d) and thought I'd have a look around this morning.
I know these power seats were fitted by the previous owner to this car, which came with manuals. The passenger side underseat wiring looks like it was original but under the driver's seat theres a wire coming from yellow connector, which is taped up and ends in a small bulb which was covered in insulating tape. When I opened it up, it looks like one wire to the bulb was broken.

Anyone know what this is doing. Is it something to do with the process of fitting power seats?

looks like someone is fooling the airbag system light into thinking everything is ok when its not, usually use a 2 ohm resistor but maybe a bulb has similar resistance.

OK. Would there be some issue with installing power seats in a car that didnt have them that would necessitate doing that? What I mean is could it be that the airbags would deploy anyway or, assuming your right, does that mean the srs is actually not working

The srs wont work on that seat if it is an srs wire. From the colour it may be an occupancy sensor but either way someone was bodging and it needs to be repaired properly

From reading around there seems a high possibility its the passenger seat sensor.
Will get it hooked up to a scanner tomorrow n report back.

It's not an occupancy sensor if it's on the drivers seat.
