Hi Guys, I always get great advice here, which I really appreciate. I cannot hold off any longer and need to get a replacement car in the coming days/week. Budget is around 5k. The local garage has 2 similarly spec'd 2010 Ford Moneeo's for around 4.5K. Can I ask your opinion of the above cars in general?

I will be coming from a Mazda 6, which is a oil thirsty burning machine. I am just wondering will a 2010 Mondeo have the same engine as a 08 Mazda 6 and end up having the same issues?

The other alternative would be to go down a few years and get a 08/09 Honda Civic?

    Thanks guys,

The 2.0 petrol would probably be the only thing the Madza and Mondeo have in common.

Probably safe to say that the ones your looking at aren't petrol ?

If it's the 2.0 then I wouldn't have any issue with it. Some do like a drop of oil and others don't seem as bad. Try go for the non flexi-fuel model if possible.

If it's the 1.6 I can't be of much help in advising I'm afraid. Other then that Ireland got the 110bhp where as the UK got the 125bhp I know nothing else of them.

Regarding the Civic, I have the 1.8 as do loads on here and it's a great car. Only complaint is that the suspension is quite firm. Something I miss alot about my Mondeo is its much better with ramps and bumps.

For the price you could get a 2010 Mondeo you'd be looking at 07s or 08s (at a push, cos of cheap tax) in the Civics.
