31 live fixtures from now until September - appears to be rather hurling-heavy, and seems strange that promising Ulster games such as Tyrone v Monaghan and Donegal v Cavan won't be shown:

Very hurling heavy with Kilkenny/Tipperary/Cork/Galway all being shown twice before June even begins!
Mayo v Galway on tv - both of whom will be shown at least another once or twice before the end of the summer.

Slightly biased but surely Longford v Meath or Louth v Carlow could be shown? Give the minnows their 70 minutes in the spotlight and not just when they're getting a trimming from one of the big guns

One feature of the new look GAA Hurling Championship is that the fixture list has been known well in advance, it’s now effectively a (shortish) league with playoffs. Previously, under the old double elimination system, you’d only have known the first round games. Obviously the GAA football championship is retaining the double elimination format (up to the quarter final group stage) which is why there are far more many football fixtures which are “TBC”.

In general with the GAA TV deals this year was always going to be odd. Effectively the deals were done on the basis that the double elimination format was continuing, but the GAA has moved the goalposts for broadcasters. The hurling championship format has dramatically changed while the football has a group stage where the quarter finals were.

Assuming that it will air on RTÉ ONE?

It’s a World Cup year, so I’d imagine at least some of it will have to, yes.

Oddly the highlights show was back last night, which I hadn’t expected and didn’t know about till I came across it browsing catch up. Dual presented by Des Cahill and Joanne Cantwell, not sure if that will be a thing for the entire season (with Cantwell due to take over the Sunday Game Live in 2019).

I am not sure if it is the first time it has ever happened, but there’ll be no less than six live GAA fixtures this weekend between Sky and RTE - including for the first time RTE and Sky both showing alternative fixtures in the same time slot:
