I went through 16 P7's (work van/high mileage) and stuck with them because I loved the excellent grip.
    Never tried a P Zero

I’ve known people who have had personal experience with P7’s and they had good things to say about them like yourself. The tyre dealer is trying to flog me P zero’s instead of them. They are between €14 & €210 a tyre. I have no problem paying for a good brand such as Pirelli if they are very durable. Using Sunwide (I think?) at the minute, and they aren’t great.

Either tyre will be a vast improvement on the current tyres.

I’ve had P7s in the past and have them on my current car.

First time round, I found them to have great grip but wore through them quite quickly (<20k). That was with a heavy right foot though in a 250bhp car.

Now, with an econobox, I still only got 20k from them. But still very pleased with the actual performance of the tyre itself.

I’d happily recommend them. No experience of P-Zero.

20k miles? The P7 are the most common are they?

    20k kilometers, on both occasions.

Have no idea which is most common to be honest. Current car was ordered new and came with them as standard, hence having them again.

To add to this, I was told at the time that they are a “soft” tyre - how accurate this is, I don’t know but it was for me.

Ive used both both very good . P zero is more sport orientated grips better and sharper but wears faster . P7 is more about comfort. Still grips well and will wear better. Just be careful that what they are offering you is p zero (just p zero no other words after the zero) and not pzero nero or p zero rosso as they are inferior tyres to the p zero

I had P7s last time round. Didn’t like them, not as grippy in the wet as the Michelin Energy’s or Bridgestone Potenzas that went on after. They weren’t awful, just born as good as others for the same price.

I have potenzas on mine and while good in dry conditions they are easily the worst tyre I've used in wet. To the point of being dangerous in fact. Prior to these I had the P zeros (different car, f11 525d as opposed to f10 535d) and found them good.

I have P7s on my car, don't really rate them. They're a bit noisy and grip isn't as good as the F1s I had before them.

I have Michelin Pilot Sport 4 currently and they are easily the best wet/dry tyres I have used to date.

Agreed about the bridgestone potenzas easily the worst premium tyres ive ever had in the wet. Truely awful.

I currently have the Michelin pilot sport 4s on my car and il be honest im not impressed. Yes they are good but no better than other cheaper tyres available .

Goodyear F1 asymmetrics are brilliant in the dry and wet and wear ok but they get very loud towards the end of their life

Continental are great for grip and very comfortable and quiet but the wear is absolutely awful. Rediculiously bad.

Check out Nokian Z-Line i tried them last year and was hugely impressed by them . Otherwise the goodyear asymmetric are one of the best all rounders

Yeah, found them quieter, better in the wet and better wearing too.

They’re actually Turanzas not Potenzas. Knew that looked wrong!

I have p7's 255's and they are super soft.

They do give great grip, but wear out far too quick.

I'll be getting something different as a replacement.

Any suggestions as to what to use instead of p7

Fast Fit seem to be pushing for Bridgestone tyres, well the depot I was at.

Fast Fit are owned by Bridgestone so likely to push them or Firestone.

Advance Pitstop are owned by Continental so will push them or Barum.

Think Atlas is owned by Goodyear but can't remember for sure.

What sort of mileage are you getting from them? What type of car?diesel etc? Reason I ask is my petrol Golf would be lighter on the front than say? A Diesel engined RS4.[/quote]

    Bmw f10 520d
Don't know what mileage I do. But thought that they would last longer than 12 months.

I put Michelin primacy 3 rfts on the rear of our f30 and they are lasting well. The bridgestone s001s were good but wore very fast on the rear.

Contis lasted but got very noisy.

I always found pirellis wore ridiculously quickly on any car.

Come to think of it I had the P Zeros on my old f11 and were down to 2mm on rears after just over 10k miles. Front had about 4-5mm.

No such thing as a diesel engined RS4

Well youd want to be sure what mileage you’re actually doing before you criticise the longevity of tyres.

It’s almost as daft as people who say that a full tank of fuel last them X amount of “weeks”

OP, I have P7’s on my A4 3.0TDI Quattro (full time 4wd and by no means a light car)

They were new at 94k miles, the tyres have covered exactly 20k miles and there is plenty of meat left on them!

I have found them brilliant in all aspects - cant fault them in dry or in the wet (although im sure thats partly be because of the 4wd)

As for longevity, they are wearing a lot better than I was expecting!

Personally I would highly rate them and when the time comes, I’ll more than likely replacing them with the same.

I also think there are a few different versions of P7’s if im not mistaken.. mine are P7 Blue

Back (275/40) wearing a lot faster that the front (245/45)

The fast wearing on the rear, might be as a result of hard acceleration, but the Bridgestone Potenza's seemed to last longer than the P7's

Which of these 2 would you try? Have to buy a pair (225/45/18) and from talking to some people they recommend these.

OP did you say that you are based in cork? Modern tyres have both tyre types in stock and very good to deal with.

Yeah I’ve recently moved here for work. Where abouts are they based J?

Drop into the lads on the south link road, never found then pushy when seeking advice on tyres.

I have the michelin primacy 3 on mine (520d) and find them good. They seem to be lasting forever compared to the Potenzas that were on it before. A lot better grip than the bridgestone turanzas on my wife's 1 series.

Had Pirellis on an A6 I had before and hated them. Now it was probably 6 years ago and I think they were P6 at the time but found them to not grip nearly as well as the potenzas and tbh have never gone back to pirelli since.
