I'm look for a decent sprayer to Apply Fence Preservative + Exterior Wall paint like sandex or wrathshield.

I would appreciate if you would recommend a Decent Sprayer to carry out BOTH these tasks with ease.

Please Advise Supplier Name, Make / Model & approx price etc.

    https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B077JKT5LH/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    Would i recommend it?

Yes i would buy it again, it takes acrylic paint very well. and i have also used it with oil based satinwood, mixed well with thinners and cleaned out fine.

    very happy with the finish

    What sort of fence?

I sprayed a vertical hit-and-miss fence once. Disastrous. It was a vertical hit-and-miss fence, and the problem was where to stop - half of the surface is recessed on the neighbour's side.

Firstly, sandtex shouldn't be used to spray. It has tiny bits of grit in it that will clog up the sprayer tip. A decent sprayer to do exterior spraying will set you back MINIMUM of 750 euro and that's for the bare bones ( not including various tips, 15m hose, shields etc etc. To do the fence, my advice is to buy a little air sprayer from Aldi or Lidl for 50 or 60 euro. You might get 2 uses out of it. To do the exterior, my advice would be to hire a professional

Hi Lumen - What's a 'Hit & Miss' fence - is it gaps between the vertical wood blanks ?
Its a normal rough wood fence - no gaps.

2 uses out of it ?

My father's had an aldi one for about 5 years used numerous times for numerous jobs .

Some level of nonsense. Clean the tools properly after each use and it's fine. 750 for a DIY sprayer no idea what your smoking but it's a DIY forum not go get a professional forum. There's a forum for that it's not here.

No Amazon only they do deliver to Ireland though. There's also smaller handheld ones for half the price by same company read the reviews for each.

No doubt your a professional but be fair when using terms like 2 uses out of equipment then telling folks they can only do something if they spend 750 euro plus.

Not very fair is it... The sandtex advice was sound stick with the facts

Thk u for advice re Sandtex.
I don't have €750 to spend on a professional sprayer.

As you recommend a "professional", I presume u are a "professional" - If need b I'll paint by hand and eliminate over priced estimates from " professionals".
    Thk U for your advice.

I bought a ronseal one in woodies a couple of weeks back to do a fence much like that (was only 25 quid or thereabouts) Worked an absolute treat, but I only got one bucket of (ronseal) paint to see what mileage I got out of it.
Turned out I needed 11 buckets so thought I'd save a few quid by getting b & q own brand paint - bloody nightmare - I get half a panel done and the filter is clogged up, have to take it out and scrub it clean with a nail brush - I think I "saved" maybe 120 - 130 quid, but it broke my heart, so if you're thinking of scrimping, trust me it's money very well spent to get the ronseal!

Fence is still only half done - I think i'll do the rest with a brush!

You do realise you have to think the paint....

Depending on the paint 70/30 would be common for acrylics but it also depends on the nozzle used.

Clogging anything means it's either not thinned not cleaned or you've let it dry out whilst doing something else.

Read the instructions for sprayers and follow the guidelines and they will last year's.

I don't think this stuff is suitable for spraying at all - I just didn't check at the time, only looked at the price! It's entirely my own fault (these things usually are:D)
The ronseal was double the price, but it worked a dream I have to say.

Yeah I use the Ronseal 5yr guaranteed preservative. Was going to buy Ronseal pump sprayer which is good for fence application - but not good for spraying external masonary wall.

Hence why I need an 'all rounder' rather than buying 2 sprayers.

I have stuck to the facts. You are telling the OP what he wants to hear. The small sprayers will do fine to spray a garden fence. I already said that. To spray the exterior of a house, you will need to run the sprayer at a higher pressure ( because exterior paint is so thick) and more or less continuously which will put a huge strain on the motor.

I would forget about fence preservative. Doesn't last, waterbased dries in the sun, fades in no time. Get 10 litres of weathershield in any colour you like, add half litre owatrol mix in bonding from Johnstone's. Actually get the shop to mix it. Put it on with a cheap four inch brush and or 4" Emulsion roller. Forget about the sprayer. Sticks like glue. Paint the wall yourself with similar 4" brush and 9" rough roller. Secret here is to powerwash wall(and fence) beforehand if necessary.

You don't thin your paints in a sprayer?

Are you sure you are a professional.....

    Burnt motors thicker paint......

Stop twisting my words to suit your argument/agenda. I've wished to OP the best of luck. I'd like to leave it there if you don't mind or are you one of these persons who always needs to have the last word?

Mea culpa. I got the wrong end of the stick. You obviously wouldn't need to spend 750 for that size of a project.

I think there's too much messing with sprayers. You have to cover everything, and I mean everything, including the neighbour's car! The paint itself is diluted to come through the nozzle,so more coats are required. I would only use it on very rough pebbledash. You would be amazed how much you can do with a long nap roller and brush. I use the roller first, and use the brush to hit the missed areas.

    Thanks Owen
But why do u have to dilute the paing to come through the nossel ? I know its thicker than fence preservative but surely a bigger nozzel can handle this ?

I was looking at a small sprayer ( on Amazon - photo details above - what ya think?).

James, I cannot follow the link for some reason. I bought a sprayer for €1500 myself a few years ago and only used it once. I'm not a fan of sprayers. There is a knack in spraying evenly across a surface. As I say a good roller and brush will go a long way in a day. Best of luck whatever way you go.

Bought one of those Ronseal Paint Sprayers years ago and it was a piece of s**t! Spent more time trying to brush in the gobs of paint it was spitting everywhere.

Did some research last year and ended up buying one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/W610-Fine-Paint-Spray-System/dp/B00CM3HDLW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1525657308&sr=8-1&keywords=wagner+w610 The best investment ever!!

Had a total of 22 fences painted to perfection in less than one afternoon. No need to water down Fencelife paint, it sprays it perfectly. The only down side is that the container supplied is not very big so needs refilling frequently but I just used a soup ladle and a funnel and had it refilled in 5 seconds. Honestly cannot recommend it enough.

    Interested in this method!
Would it be ok on new pressure treated timber also?
Is it 1/2 litre owatrol per 10 litres paint?
