Bulletproof cars in Ireland?

Was heading off the m50 onto the M1 on sunday and noticed a 171 registered bmw 7 series, what intrigued me was it was the older 2010 version and from what I can tell it was a 760 LI but was totally debadged. As I got closer I noticed it was much beefier than the average 7 series, then I noticed the black surround around the back window and sides and you could see the glass was noticeably thicker. So done a bit of research and it matches exactly to what an armored 7 series looks like. Obviously it was being driven by a chauffeur but didn't have diplomatic plates or anything.

Anyone ever see one before? I can`t really see one being necessary over here but interesting to see none the less

can't read all of the article but the first few lines suggest that was about an X5 and a 3 series?

I saw a bulletproof Land Cruiser leaving the British embassy in Ballsbridge a few months ago. Drivers window had only a tiny opening, and it travelled down the road different to a normal Landcruiser, presumably due to weight/suspension modifications.

There's a lad in Galway who deals in armoured vehicles - ex-government cars mostly. I think he brings them in from the UK depending on demand.
He has an A8 for sale that can withstand AK-47, M-16 and armor-piercing bullets!

Didn't the CAB seize an armoured car or 4x4 off the Limerick scumbags and then gave it to the ERU? I'd say some of the feuding Dublin scumbags have armoured vehicles now

There’s used to be a bulletproof commercial land cruiser out there too. Used for collecting money from cigarette machines.
