Failed Hearing Test

    Hi,

I'm 32. I failed the screening test at my eye test last Saturday and just failed a hidden hearing exam this morning with my right ear (everything was out of the normal range). Left ear is perfect. I'm going to my GP tomorrow to get it investigated.

However can anyone advise on how this works and what to expect? I have very good private health insurance including consultants visits etc but I also know it doesn't cover a hearing aid if I end up at that point and they seem to be mental expensive. I'm a musician and this is driving me nuts.

I work full time if thats relevant on PRSI. I do not have a medical card. Can I go private for the investigations and if it comes down to it and its not fixable, head into the public system for hearing aids? Or does public even cover hearing aids? I've no qualms about getting one if its needed as I do not want to continue like this with the imbalance but like private maternity cover, hearing aids might be a bridge too far for our finances

On a separate note, I'm pregnant. I would prefer not to get a CT scan as a result, will an MRI do if they want scans?
