    No pallet forks, no hairspring... frequency now at 18hz (in literature from 2017 it was "only" at 15hz - a "high-beat" 28,800vph watch is 4hz by the way - 18hz = 129,600vph), amplitude at 6 degrees - the stats read out of this world.

    Accuracy is rated at 7.5 seconds per month - for a purely mechanical piece (rated at 0.5 seconds per 48 hours).

    For me this is a game changer - we'll have mechanical watches that can keep up with the accuracy of quartz (though not HAQ of course). Imagine when the Chinese (or even Japanese) figure out how to replicate this (or innovate on this) so the price drops from the 10,000 to 1,000 and 100 price bracket.

    But major kudos to Tag/LVMH/Zenith for this innovation - when the price gets lowered on the movement it should mean less servicing is needed as the design is largely lubrication free - it's also 30 less components.

    18hz = 36 beats per second...that should come close to matching Spring-drive's buttery smoothness...but in a purely mechanical movement.
